As part of their Ocean Plastics campaign Greenpeace chose itdrewitself to write and direct an ambitious and controversial brand attack film, and just in time for Christmas. The brief was to hijack a universally recognisable Christmas advert and use it to highlight the huge amount of single use plastic that enters the ocean every single day. For the script itdrewitself used the very tropes the brand uses to link itself so strongly to Christmas against it. The outcome was a hugely powerfully and darkly humorous advert that speared the drinks brand head on, taking them to task for their part in the growing ocean plastic emergency. The film received over 1.5 million views and was chosen by The Drum in the top three ‘Best Christmas ads of 2017’ and PR Week’s ‘Top 5 Christmas ads of 2017’.
